Let go of the gas a little before a sharp curve instead of braking hard in the middle of it. Save nitro for long straight sections, where it gives the biggest gain and is easiest to control. Stay off the grass at the edge of the road; it slows you down much more than a wide turn does. A race takes a few minutes, so it fits a short break.
